Why does Ramadan matter so much for advertising in Morocco?
A study by the research firm Integrate and Com & Talk Agency, reported by TelQuel in February 2025, calls Ramadan Morocco's advertising Super Bowl. Television is still the leading medium, but digital takes over right after ftour.
According to the same study, engagement on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok peaks between 10 pm and 3 am, and 44% of Moroccans spend their Ramadan evenings switching between the TV and their smartphone.
Budgets follow. In the first ten days of Ramadan 2026, advertisers spent 425 million dirhams, according to the Moroccan observatory OMLI (Les Impériales), based on Imperium data. Food accounted for 39.3%, ahead of telecoms (21.1%).
For a business with no TV budget, creators are the most direct way to be on people's phones at that moment.
When does Ramadan 2027 start in Morocco?
| Event | Expected date |
|---|---|
| Start of Ramadan 1448 | Around Monday 8 February 2027 |
| Eid al-Fitr | Around Wednesday 10 March 2027 |
These are forecast dates based on astronomical calculations. The exact date, set by the crescent sighting, is announced by the Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs, so keep a margin of one or two days in your plan.
What timeline should a Ramadan campaign follow?
- Late December 2026 to early January 2027, four to six weeks ahead: set the goal and budget, choose creators in the directory and book their dates.
- Mid-January: send the brief and products, approve the ideas and shoot in advance whatever you can (recipes, gift boxes, unboxings).
- First week of February: teasers for your ftour or shour offer and for the preparations.
- First half of Ramadan: ftour content (the table, a recipe, a restaurant visit), posted after the fast is broken.
- Second half: shour, evenings out, getting ready for Eid (outfits, pastries, gifts).
- Eid al-Fitr, around 10 March: greetings, family content, a last reminder of the offer.
- After Eid: count the promo codes and keep the best videos, if the usage rights allow it.
Which formats and tone suit Ramadan?
| Moment | Formats | Content ideas |
|---|---|---|
| Ftour | Reel, stories | The ftour table, a harira or briouat recipe, a restaurant visit with its menu and price |
| Shour | Stories, TikTok video | Evenings out, a café open late, a shour deal |
| Eid al-Fitr | Reel, UGC video | Family preparations, outfits, pastries, gifts |
Tone matters as much as format. Show family, sharing and generosity: a meal cooked together, neighbours invited over, a food basket given to a charity.
- No jokes about fasting, prayer or religious practice.
- No staged waste: a sensible table says more than a mountain of dishes.
- Food content goes out after ftour, not in the middle of a fasting day.
- A promise you can keep: enough stock, a visible price, real opening hours.
What budget should I plan for a Ramadan campaign?
October 2026 market ranges for Instagram (details on the rates page):
| Tier | Post | Story | Reel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano (under 10,000 followers) | 200 to 1,500 MAD | 100 to 600 MAD | 300 to 2,400 MAD |
| Micro (10,000 to 50,000) | 1,500 to 5,000 MAD | 600 to 2,000 MAD | 2,400 to 8,000 MAD |
| Mid-tier (50,000 to 250,000) | 5,000 to 18,000 MAD | 2,000 to 7,200 MAD | 8,000 to 29,000 MAD |
Example 1, about 3,000 MAD: a Rabat pastry shop selling Eid gift boxes. Two nano family creators each post a Reel (≈1,100 MAD at the median) and a third posts three stories in the last week (≈900 MAD). Total at median prices: ≈3,100 MAD.
Example 2, about 9,000 MAD: a Marrakesh restaurant with a ftour menu. A micro food creator posts a venue-visit Reel in the first week (≈4,800 MAD), two nano creators post three shour stories each (≈1,800 MAD), a nano creator posts a TikTok video (≈1,000 MAD) and two UGC videos run as ads (≈1,100 MAD). Total: ≈8,700 MAD.
No reliable public data measures whether creators raise their prices during Ramadan. Book early and ask for a written quote that fixes the price and dates. For a specific creator, the rate calculator gives a ballpark.
What should I check before launching?
- A goal with numbers: ftour bookings, gift-box orders, WhatsApp messages.
- Creators booked four to six weeks ahead, with posting dates in writing.
- A brief sent: offer, price, address, opening hours, what to show and what to avoid.
- A promo code or QR code per creator, with a deadline.
- The partnership disclosed: paid partnership label on Instagram, commercial content setting on TikTok.
- Usage rights in writing if you want to reuse the videos in ads.
- Stock and staff ready for the rush after each post.
- One or two days of margin around the dates, depending on the crescent sighting.
