How to become an influencer in Morocco: steps, legal status and first clients
To become an influencer in Morocco, pick a niche and a main platform, post at a pace you can keep up and speak first to a Moroccan audience. Once the first paid partnerships arrive, register as an auto-entrepreneur: as of October 2026, the tax is 1% of the turnover you collect for services. Then publish your packages in MAD and pitch the businesses in your city.

Can you still become an influencer in Morocco in 2026?
Yes, the audience is there. According to DataReportal (Digital 2026, October 2025 data), Morocco has 35.5 million internet users, or 92.2% of the population, and 22.8 million social media user identities.
| Platform | Ad audience in Morocco | Change over one year |
|---|---|---|
| 22.8 million | +10.7% | |
| YouTube | 21.6 million | +2.4% |
| TikTok (aged 18 and over) | 16.7 million | +19.1% |
| 15.1 million | +20.8% | |
| Snapchat | 7.64 million | +10.2% |
These are ad audiences estimated by the platforms, not active users. Instagram and TikTok are still the fastest growing.
What are the steps to become an influencer?
- Pick a niche you can keep going for a year: a specific topic and a specific audience.
- Choose one main platform, then reuse your vertical videos elsewhere.
- Post consistently at a realistic pace, for example three pieces a week.
- Build an audience in Morocco: your language, your city, your places, local hashtags.
- Register as an auto-entrepreneur as soon as the first paid partnerships come in.
- Publish a profile with your packages and prices in MAD.
- Pitch your first clients: businesses in your city, online shops, agencies.
How do I choose a niche?
A niche is a topic plus an audience: "food in Rabat", "care for combination skin", "budget tech". It helps clients find you and understand what you can do for them.
- You can talk about it every week for a year without getting bored.
- Businesses near you already sell in that space: cafés, beauty salons, fashion boutiques, electronics shops.
- You have an angle of your own: your city, your language, your budget or your job.
Browse the creator directory by city and niche to spot the topics that few creators cover near you.
Which platform should I start on?
| Platform | Best for | Formats clients buy | Price versus Instagram |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beauty, fashion, food, places, lifestyle | Reel, story, post | Benchmark | |
| TikTok | Short videos, trends, quick reviews | Video, live | ≈ 0.9× |
| YouTube | Tech, tutorials, detailed reviews | Video, Short | ≈ 1.8× |
| Snapchat | Daily life, behind the scenes | Story | ≈ 0.6× |
| Local pages and groups | Post, video | ≈ 0.6× |
Start where you feel most at ease. The same vertical video can then become a Reel, a TikTok and a YouTube Short.
How do I build an audience in Morocco?
- Speak your audience's language, Darija, French, Arabic or a mix, and keep it consistent from one video to the next.
- Root yourself in your city: neighbourhoods, addresses, events, local hashtags.
- Post in series ("one café a week in Casablanca"): people follow to see the next episode.
- Reply to comments and messages: that is where a community starts.
Check where your audience lives. On Instagram, from 100 followers, insights show your followers' top cities and countries, their age range and when they are most active. A local business will want to know how much of your audience is in Morocco.
What legal status do I need to get paid as an influencer?
Most creators start under the auto-entrepreneur status. You fill in the form online on the National Auto-Entrepreneur Register portal, then file it at a Poste Maroc partner branch. Your registration certificate shows your tax ID and your ICE, which businesses ask for before paying you.
| Rule | In 2026 |
|---|---|
| Income tax | 1% of turnover collected (services) |
| Annual ceiling | 200,000 MAD for services |
| Filing and payment | Every quarter, during the following month |
| CNSS social contribution | Every quarter, from 300 MAD depending on the bracket |
| Same client above 80,000 MAD a year | 30% withheld at source on the excess |
Example: you collect 12,000 MAD in a quarter. The tax is 120 MAD (1%) and, according to the scale published on the official portal, the CNSS contribution for that bracket is 300 MAD.
Choose the declared activity carefully: the official portal publishes a list of professions excluded from the scheme. Invoices and special cases are covered in the auto-entrepreneur guide and the influencer tax guide.
Do I have to disclose partnerships?
Yes, as soon as there is payment or a free product. Instagram treats any post made in exchange for something of value, money or a gift, as branded content and asks you to use the paid partnership tool and tag the partner.
TikTok requires you to turn on the commercial content disclosure setting, including for a gifted product.
How do I find my first clients?
A client wants to see quickly what you offer and at what price. Publish a profile with your packages in MAD: the shops, brands and individuals who browse the directory contact you directly on WhatsApp, by phone, by email or through messages, and pay you directly. Kreators takes no commission and is free at launch: see the creators page.
| Followers | Instagram post | Story | Reel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Under 10,000 | 200 to 1,500 MAD | 100 to 600 MAD | 300 to 2,400 MAD |
| 10,000 to 50,000 | 1,500 to 5,000 MAD | 600 to 2,000 MAD | 2,400 to 8,000 MAD |
These are market ranges as of October 2026. Example: with 8,000 followers you are in the nano tier, where the median Instagram post is around 700 MAD; a Reel is worth about 1.6 times a post, so close to 1,100 MAD. Fine-tune your price with the rate calculator.
