Micro-influencers in Morocco: definition, prices and when to choose one
A micro-influencer is a creator followed by 10,000 to 50,000 people; below that, they are called nano-influencers. In Morocco, according to the October 2026 market ranges, a micro-influencer usually charges 1,500 to 5,000 MAD for an Instagram post and 600 to 2,000 MAD for a story. Their often local audience makes them a good choice for a shop or a small business.

What is a micro-influencer?
| Tier | Followers | Instagram post in Morocco | Median |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | under 10,000 | 200 to 1,500 MAD | ≈ 700 MAD |
| Micro | 10,000 to 50,000 | 1,500 to 5,000 MAD | ≈ 3,000 MAD |
| Mid-tier | 50,000 to 250,000 | 5,000 to 18,000 MAD | ≈ 10,000 MAD |
A micro-influencer usually covers one topic (cooking, sport, make-up, travel) for people in their city or region. Their followers know them and ask them questions: that is where their value lies.
What is a nano-influencer, and should I prefer one?
A nano-influencer has fewer than 10,000 followers. They charge 200 to 1,500 MAD for an Instagram post, around 700 MAD at the median, and some accept a product exchange.
| Nano | Micro | |
|---|---|---|
| Followers | under 10,000 | 10,000 to 50,000 |
| Instagram post | 200 to 1,500 MAD | 1,500 to 5,000 MAD |
| Story (≈ 40% of a post) | about 80 to 600 MAD | 600 to 2,000 MAD |
| Reel (≈ 1.6 times a post) | about 320 to 2,400 MAD | 2,400 to 8,000 MAD |
| Best for | Neighbourhood, city, first test | City, region, product launch |
The median engagement rate falls as follower counts rise, according to the HypeAuditor 2026 report covered by Net Influencer. A nano account therefore often has a more attentive but smaller audience: to reach enough people, book several nano creators in the same city.
Why do micro-influencers work for local businesses?
- The audience is close: a Marrakesh food creator reaches people who can eat at your place this weekend.
- Engagement is usually higher than on big accounts: their followers comment, ask questions and send messages.
- The price lets you test: with 5,000 MAD you can try three micro creators in stories and keep the one that works.
- They are reachable: a micro-influencer often answers WhatsApp themselves, with no agent.
Why is Darija content a strength?
Your customers speak Darija every day. A creator who presents your product in their own words and expressions sounds natural: it feels like a friend's tip rather than an ad.
Do not impose a script in formal French. Give them the key facts (price, address, promo code) and let them talk as usual. For a mixed audience, ask for French or Arabic subtitles.
Example of a comment to look for under a food video: «فين جا هاد المحل؟ وشحال الثمن؟» ("Where is this place? How much is it?"). That kind of question shows real interest.
Gifting or paid: what should I offer?
| Product exchange (gifting) | Paid collaboration | |
|---|---|---|
| Principle | You give the product or service, no payment | You pay an agreed price for specific content |
| Obligation to post | Only if agreed in writing | Yes, as agreed |
| Control over content | Low | Brief, dates and approval |
| Best for | Nano creators, first contact, low-cost product | Micro creators, launches, fixed dates |
Gifting suits a restaurant, a salon or a small cosmetics brand starting with no budget. But a creator has no obligation to post if nothing was agreed: write down what you expect.
Either way, ask for the partnership to be disclosed. On Instagram, Meta's branded content policies require the "Paid partnership" label.
What budget for a small business?
Example: small business, 1,000 to 3,000 MAD. Book 2 nano creators from your city, 3 stories each, or offer a product exchange.
The maths: a nano story costs about 40% of a nano post, so 80 to 600 MAD, around 280 MAD at the median price. Six stories therefore come to about 1,700 MAD, in the middle of your budget.
With 5,000 to 10,000 MAD, move up to one or two micro-influencers with a Reel each (2,400 to 8,000 MAD per Reel). Find them by city, for example creators in Casablanca, and compare with Instagram rates.
How do I measure each creator's results?
- One promo code per creator, for example GUELIZ10 and MEDINA10: you know who brought each sale.
- One QR code per creator, leading to your page or WhatsApp, shown in a story or in the shop.
- One tracked link per creator to your website or catalogue.
- A simple question for your customers: "How did you hear about us?"
After two weeks, compare the cost per customer for each creator and work again with the ones who brought sales.
Which seasons should I target in Morocco?
- Ramadan: food, outings after ftour and gifts. Prepare weeks ahead with our Ramadan campaign guide.
- Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha: fashion, beauty, gifts and family trips.
- Summer and the MRE season: Moroccans living abroad come home, and coastal cities and celebrations fill up.
- Back to school: supplies, clothes, tutoring.
- Black Friday: online deals on fashion, beauty and electronics.
Book early so you have your pick of creators and dates.
How do I choose a micro-influencer?
- Filter by city and niche in the directory.
- Check that most of the audience is in Morocco and in your city.
- Work out engagement: average the likes and comments on the last ten posts, divide by followers and multiply by 100. Compare with accounts of the same size in the calculator.
- See whether they have covered a business like yours before, and how.
- Rule out suspicious accounts with our fake followers checklist.
For a national launch within days, a creator with more than 250,000 followers is still useful. Combine them with micro-influencers for credibility.
